Innovation award at the IPP Annual Awards Ceremony
Our client, Tim Kelsey from Buckinghamshire County Council nominated us:-

Legal Recoveries & Collections Ltd (LRC)
The nomination of a debt recovery agency for the IPP Innovation award may seem a strange choice at first sight, but this product has revolutionised the administration and recovery of salary and pension overpayments. I have used LRC as a client for a number of years and have always been satisfied with the high quality service provided by the company. Recent improvements to their on-line management system have prompted this nomination.
My payroll have always included employees who were paid in advance, pensioners and those working at remote locations with no HR administration, all common causes for overpayments occurring. For those who had left the service of the employer and who proved reluctant to return overpaid funds, I use LRC to recover the money.
The system is offered with full on-line access and input. Details of debts can be loaded automatically by the client. LRC then take over and pursue the debt to recovery. A wide variety of innovative methods are used to track down the debtor and encourage payment including text messaging and overseas tracing. Clients can set the parameters in which they want LRC to work, for example we have a company policy of never using bailiffs to recover debt, and therefore be assured that all recovery work is done to the company standard. This sensitive approach helps when dealing with high profile cases, such as overpayments to deceased pensioners, and protects our reputation.
I can track the full case history on-line and view all correspondence at any time on individual cases. LRC do all the chasing, and should a decision by the client be required they promptly contact me for input. They undertake all court action and subsequent recovery work needed to enforce judgement. The whole system is very efficient and over the years has saved me a huge amount of time in administering this potentially embarrassing area of payroll administration. A full system demo can be viewed at www.legalrecoveries.com . All this work is done for fixed low fees, which are often recoverable from the debtor, making it a no cost exercise to the employer.
Nomination from Tim Kelsey
I was Payroll Manager at the Medical Research Council for 18 years before joining Buckinghamshire County Council in September 2006. I have used LRC at both employers, and made the case for LRC to be adopted as debt recovery agents for BCC on my arrival. BCC have been very pleased with the results we have achieved with LRC tackling a serious salary overpayment backlog which dated back to 2005 caused by the implementation of a new payroll system. Nearly 100 cases of historical debt have been cleared by LRC in the 6 months they have been acting for BCC, cases which we had pursued but been unable to persuade the debtor to settle.
